Pascal van Duijnhoven

Founder & Manager

Dutch, 52 years old. I am living in Rome for 20 years now and always worked in the hospitality business. I studied history and languages in Leiden, Netherlands. In 2020 I had the opportunity to start the Etuk business and I strongly believed in sustainable tourism.

The start was tough, but we made our way and I am proud to have such a great and passionate team of collaborators. Besides history my passions are tennis, music, mountains and travelling. Let’s make Rome a better place!

About Pascal

Dutch by birth, but after two decades in the Eternal City, he’s become Roman at heart. His journey to Rome began years ago in Leiden, in the Netherlands, where he studied history and languages — subjects that shaped his lifelong fascination with culture, stories, and human connection. That curiosity, combined with a deep sense of adventure, eventually led him south to Italy, where he found not only a new home but also a calling.

Before founding Etuk, Pascal spent years working in the hospitality industry, a world that taught him how to create experiences that feel personal and meaningful. He’s always believed that travel should go beyond ticking landmarks off a list — it should be about truly feeling a place, meeting its people, and understanding its rhythm.

In 2020, as the world stood still, Pascal saw an opportunity to rethink how people explore Rome. That idea grew into Etuk Tours Rome — a small, family-run company built on the belief that sustainable tourism can be both intimate and inspiring. He wanted to offer a way for travelers to discover the city’s beauty without harming its delicate balance — and to do it with joy, curiosity, and respect.

The early days weren’t easy. Starting a new business during a global crisis takes courage, but Pascal’s quiet determination and faith in the idea carried the project forward. “If we do it with heart,” he told his team, “people will feel it.” And they did.

Today, Pascal is one of the most beloved faces of Etuk. Guests who join him on the Appia Antica & Food Experience often describe his tours as more than sightseeing — they’re journeys through time, guided by someone who knows every stone and story by heart. Whether he’s explaining the engineering marvels of the Aurelian Walls, sharing a hidden gelato spot, or recounting the legend of Saint Peter at the Church of Domine Quo Vadis, Pascal has a gift for making history feel alive.

His calm, friendly presence puts travelers instantly at ease, and his deep knowledge of Rome’s past is matched only by his genuine enthusiasm for the present. For Pascal, every guest is a new story — another chance to share the city he loves in a way that feels real, human, and memorable.

When he’s not on tour, Pascal can usually be found playing tennis, listening to music, hiking in the mountains, or planning his next adventure. Traveling remains one of his greatest passions, and he often says that every new journey gives him fresh eyes for the city he calls home.

For Pascal, Etuk is more than a business — it’s a community, a way to give back to Rome, and a small contribution to a more sustainable future for tourism.
He sums it up best in his own words:

“Rome has given me so much — history, friendship, and a sense of belonging. Etuk is my way of giving something back. Let’s make Rome a better place, one tour at a time.”
