Reunions are always special – but when they happen in the timeless streets of Rome, they become unforgettable. This week, I had the pleasure of welcoming my old tennis mate Irmgard from the Netherlands, along with her partner and their adorable dog, for a private eco-friendly tour through the Eternal City. What followed was a day filled with sunshine, laughter, hidden corners, and the joy of rediscovering Rome together.

The Experience

Some days in Rome feel like pure magic — and this one truly did.
Recently, I had the joy of welcoming my old tennis mate Irmgard from the Netherlands, who came to Rome with her partner and their charming little dog. The moment they hopped aboard our eco-friendly electric tuk tuk, it felt as if no time had passed at all.

We were lucky with the weather — soft sunlight, a gentle breeze, and that unmistakable Roman glow that makes everything look cinematic.
Our route took us through Rome’s little hidden streets, away from the crowds, where locals go about their day and every corner reveals a new story. We stopped for photos at the Turtle Fountain, one of the city’s most graceful Renaissance treasures, and wandered near the Portico d’Octavia in the Jewish District, a place steeped in history and character.

More Than a Tour — A Personal Moment

For me, this wasn’t just another tour — it was a beautiful reunion. Seeing Irmgard again, catching up on life, and sharing laughter as we rediscovered Rome together made the day truly special. And as always, the tuk tuk turned heads and sparked smiles wherever we went.

Irmgard and I first met back in 1990 during our tennis teacher training. We became instant friends, but life took us on different paths — until now. After 35 years, reuniting felt as if no time had passed at all.

It’s days like these that remind me why I love what I do — connecting with people, sharing the beauty of Rome, and creating memories that last far beyond the cobblestones.

Today we (me, my husband and my friends) had a nice afternoontrip with Etuk tours. The driver Federico picked us up at the metrostation Piramide and asked what we would like to see. This turned out to be a good suggestion, because we had already visited some famous highlights. So he suggested some nice places we had not seen before and during the trip gave some usefull information, while driving carefully. Altogether we had a lot of fun. My families First time ever in Rome/ Italy. Could’nt have had a better experience with our tour guide Frederico on his super cool Tuk tuk. He was so passionate and knowledgeable about the cities history. He added sunshine to a rainy day! What we appreciated most was his kindness and personal touch for the city of Rome. Fabulous tour with Tommaso. He showed us some amazing sights. He was so knowledgeable, friendly and answered all our questions. He even dropped us off near to our hotel at the end of the tour.

This was a great experience. Tomasso was a wonderful guide and seeing the city by Tuktuk was a great way to get oriented and see some things that are a further walk. We had quite the rain and Tomasso was accommodating in ensuring our comfort and adding time to the tour because of the rain. Recommend to anyone who or a first time visitor or if want to cover a lot of ground in a short period of time.
